Big, sexy men who don’t relate well to kids need not apply…

Ben Harland is, by his own admission, a bit of a grouch. He doesn’t do soppy chick-flicks or cosy home and family. He sure doesn’t need any more drama in his world. But life has a way of biting him in the ass. Cue insta-daddyhood to an eight-year-old girl who lands on his doorstep, and an out-of-control attraction to Stewart Island's hot school teacher.

Kezia Murphy plays her widow card well. When you don’t trust people not to let you down, you don’t get involved. Though Ben makes her skin sizzle just by looking at him, he’s counting the days until he’s once again a single man. But no matter how much Kezia yearns for his touch, and her daughter Zoe longs for a daddy, can Ben ever be the right man for the job?

Normally I love the New Zealand stories but I did not like the heroine in this one and that sort of ruined the story for me. Nothing wrong with the story, the heroine just ruined it.

The hero is a confirmed bachelor. One day an old one-night stand drops off a daughter he never knew he had. The mother is a total flake and she leaves the kid because she has something better to do. He hasn't a clue what to do or how to do it regarding kids. he does try though. He wants to do well for this child. His next door neighbor is the heroine. She is a single mother and she knows it all. She puts him down at every turn because he is not the perfect dad and should know what to do regarding the child. She just pissed me off.

I could not stand her or her attitude. The story has a good plot line, I loved the hero. The children in the story were even good characters. it was just he heroine I couldn't handle. I would recommend that you read the book and see how it all plays out for you.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Melting Into You A Small Town Romance Stewart Island Series Book 2 edition by Tracey Alvarez Sunset Rose Books Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

What a beautiful book. The measure of a man to a woman isn't how good looking he is or how much money he makes, but how he feels about her, how he makes her feel. Does he make her feel loved, precious, safe? The beauty of this book was to watch a man who knew how to "get the job done" but was emotionally stunted evolve into a loving man.

Ben had to grow up too fast and put aside his own dreams when his father died. He took care of his mom and sister the best he could, never realizing that while actions can speak louder than words; words are important as well. It took an unexpected little girl entering his life to open up the world for him. Joining him as he learned to live and love was an unexpected pleasure. Obligation turned into the most important honor allowed and led to the perfect match.

Kez is a young widow who has already faced a parent's worst nightmare of a sick child by herself. She has rebuilt their lives in Oban and is surrounded by close girlfriends. She is happy with her life and prepared to remain alone with her daughter providing all of the love she thinks she needs.

Ben and Kez, Jade and Zoe. It's not every book that can focus on 2 single parents and 2 little girls and be as entertaining as this one. There's humor and heartbreak, misunderstandings and passion. Tracey Alvarez takes 4 people/ 2 pairs and fits them together to take make a family that's so much more than just the pieces. Tracey takes the everyday and makes it extraordinary.

Every parent can relate to this story. Every woman wants a man to prove himself like Ben does, every mother wants a dad that can be trusted with her baby's heart. When you find a man that can do both, you know that you have found forever. Ben and Kez can have forever if they can be brave enough. Wonderful read!
Not my favorite one; but not bad....

I did have some trouble with the way Ben was in the beginning; I understand where his head was at, I really do.... but the way he talked about Jade and to her even... if a kid is yours, even if you have no experience with children; you do not make them feel unwanted... her mother done that enough as it was... and Jade's mother Marci.... omg, could there be a more immature, selfish woman?
I loathed her from the very bottom of my heart; she was a terrible mother and just an overall terrible person all around....

Kezia was incredibly sweet and such a good mother; I couldn't imagine the kind of life she had and the things she went through as a young mother with a sick child, but then to be brushed off by her husband and then have him die that very night? That sucks..... I liked her and I loved the relationship she and Zoe had as well as the relationship between them and Jade... it was very sweet and I'm glad Jade had someone to be there for her when her parents were so clearly not...
It took me a while to warm up to Ben and I guess I did eventually, I'm glad Jade "grew on him" .... THat's better than nothing I guess but it's still just a few notches up above the terrible mother was..

And the ending I didn't like because for him to even entertain the idea of marrying that woman just so he could have a relationship with his daughter....it was the stupidest thing he could have ever even thought of and of course Kezia wouldn't wanna be second runner up... that whole part was just ridiculous and insane.... I hated it and was glad when it was over....
I'm rethinking the next one but we shall see.
There was not one single thing I didn't absolutely love about this book. Love the story plot, the characters, the hot sex scenes, and the out and out laughter that insued after watching a bumbling bachelor trying to cope with becoming an instant daddy to a nearly nine year old daughter. This story had it's fare share of angst along the way, but IMO--the laughter and joy out-weighed the heavier parts of the story, giving the story as a whole a nice balance.

Ben is the epitome of the clueless male, but I couldn't help but fall in love with him. He went from zero to hero in Jade's eyes in such a short time, and in mine, also. Kezia and her adorable 9 year old daughter, Zoe has seen more than their share of trouble and sorrow in their lives lately. Moving was supposed to be a way of starting over on a new outlook on life for them, but they didn't bargain for the hunky guy next door or his adorable daughter becoming part of their new lives.

It was so much fun to watch he way Jade and Zoe become the best of friends and they play matchmaker to their parents. They were both very cute! I loved Ben's sisters; I thought they were a real hoot. I even loved his stern mother, but Marci....not so much.
Normally I love the New Zealand stories but I did not like the heroine in this one and that sort of ruined the story for me. Nothing wrong with the story, the heroine just ruined it.
